With our very first ever robotics team at Taper last year going all the way to Worlds, the pressure is on and some big shoes to fill for this year's Taper Team. We're off to a great start so far, with our team placing 2nd at our first local league match woohoo! at the LAUSD South VEX IQ League at Dodson Middle School (follow match rankings and points here click on division 1) we are competing, like last year, with mostly local middle schools and are just in awe of how our Taper Tigers work so hard and work so well together as a team. The team pulled together and built a competition worthy robot considering we had a rocky start due to illness, trying to find a place to practice, recruiting a coach/es and only two weeks to the first match, but it all came together with the help from our parent volunteers, our staff, and especially our student team. We finally secured a place to practice, thank you Mr. Sayers for choosing the team and sharing your office, and a thank you also to Mr. Manios, one of our parent volunteers, who accepted to coach the team along with Ms. Chavez our computer-lab aide as a part-time coach, we can't wait to see how far our team goes.
