Meet The Principal
Dear Taper Tiger Students and Families,
I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than twenty-five years and have worked with students ranging in age from Early Transitional Kindergarten through 6th grade in a variety of roles. I have served as a regular education teacher, a Title One and English Language Learners Coordinator, and Standard English Learner Instructional Coach as well as an Assistant Principal. Most recently, I have served as one of the Assistant Principals at Manchester Avenue Elementary Broadcasting and Communication Magnet. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educational leader to Taper Avenue Elementary and S.T.E.A.M. Magnet and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success.
On a personal note, I have lived in the South Bay area for over 35 years. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Mount St. Mary's College in Brentwood and my master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of California Los Angeles. I am currently reviewing several programs for my doctorate. I am proud to be part of the San Pedro Community of Schools within the Los Angeles Unified School District, one that values high standards by providing rich learning experiences for all students. I view education as a life-long process and expect that I will continue to learn much about the uniqueness of Taper Avenue Elementary and S.T.E.A.M Magnet this year and in the years to come. Most importantly, I bring a belief that students are at the center of all school-related decisions. I am excited to unite my experience, my openness to learn, and my child-centered approach to support our students. Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students; I encourage you to become involved in every way possible. I look forward to meeting you soon!
